Cragganmore 29 years old, OB. Distilled in 1973, bottled in 2003. 6 000 bottles. 52,5 %

Distilled in 1973 – the year when Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and Aerosmith’s debut album were released, AC/DC was formed and yours truly’s first words came out.  I believe that this one was matured in bourbon casks – correct me if I’m wrong.

Color: Gold.

Nose: Intensive acrid notes of acacia honey, cooked fruits and lemon. Very fresh and vibrant - in a blind nosing this would very easily pass for a fifteen-year-old dram, so damn fresh it is. After a while (a good 20 minutes); vanilla pod, orange zest and surely some oak.

Palate: Sharp citric arrival, bitter oranges to be exact. You also get a dose of peat in the middle. Towards the end mellow tannins take over. When diluted it gets fruitier – like summer at its peak. Creme brulee and a splash of fresh papaya juice. The mouthfeel is quite thick and waxy.

Finish: Long as the ending credits in Peter Jackson’s the Lord of the Rings. Honey everywhere.

A coherent old Speysider. If this whisky was a woman, it would be Jane Fonda (or Halle Berry). Excellent stuff.

Excelente.
